TripIt Travel Talk is a forum where real world travel scenarios are explored in hopes the TripIt community can educate us and each other on how to make traveling more enjoyable.
You’re sitting in your seat, thumbing through the in-flight magazine, when it happens. Over the loudspeaker comes a pleading voice from the captain or flight attendant, describing the classic “over-booked” situation. The airline is offering a flight voucher for those willing to disembark the plane and delay their lives a touch further.
If you were to accept a voucher, what considerations do you take into account? Are you more likely to accept if your current station has you in a middle seat? Does the length of flight play a part? Do you have the time or patience sit at the airport for another few hours? Is there a voucher dollar amount you can be bought for?
What does it take for you to get off the plane? Have you done it before? Can you negotiate for more?
