Just over a year ago I moved down to San Francisco and started my summer internship here at TripIt. Since then, I’ve learned loads about tech and travel, come on as a full-time employee, upgraded from an air mattress in a friend’s living room to an actual apartment and taken some pretty sweet business trips. Yup, my internship opened a lot of doors for me, and now it’s time for things to come full circle!
Concur as a whole has brought on tons of incredible interns this summer, and we’re so excited to have 10 of them here in San Francisco with TripIt.
So, without further ado, I’m honored to introduce our Class of 2015 Interns.
Adrienne Springer: Acquisition Marketing Intern
Adrienne, a senior at State University of New York at New Paltz, majors in Asian studies. As a lover of practical footwear and lounging of all types, you might peg her as a Plain Jane, but you’d be wrong. She’s an animated conversationalist who loves dodgy street food and exploring the world. And she definitely doesn’t let borders restrict her. She’s been to about 20 countries, and lived in Germany, Brazil, India and China. Adrienne has the spirit of a squirrel and lives by the words: “Live, Laugh, Papasan.”
Anika Gupta: Senior Product Marketing Intern
This Leo comes to us from University of Washington, where she’s working toward her MBA in Marketing and Strategy. In London, she was born, as was her deep love for travel. Like most wanderlusters, her savings are most often dedicated to the next adventure (which is hopefully Bora Bora). On the weekends, you might find her shakin’ her groove thang, painting or reading.
Anja Draskovic: R&D Engineer Intern
Anja attends University of Texas at Dallas, where she studies computer science. With the soul of a dragon and the heart of a bunny, she’s able to take on whatever we throw her way. When traveling, she loves to get down to the core of new cultures by talking to the locals and indulging in the food of the region.
Christina Shook: Graphic Design Intern
As a student at the Academy of Art University, Christina is a true graphic design superstar. She loves camping, especially at Mammoth Lakes, and going on road trips. But as much as she loves the adventures of travel, Christina is a house cat at heart. She enjoys cooking, playing video games and binge watching Netflix (but who doesn’t).
Daniel Hamilton: Advertising Intern
Daniel “D Ham” Hamilton studies environmental economics and policy at UC Berkley. Although he might have the soul of a teddy bear, he has a competitive side that he channels when golfing, surfing, running and just about anything else athletic. Daniel loves traveling with friends and family, and takes it as an opportunity to learn about new cultures.
Jared O’Rourke: Product Management Intern
Jared comes to us from just down the road—Santa Clara University—where he studies engineering management. He loves to travel to get out of his comfort zone, and there’s nowhere he wouldn’t want to travel. Born the year of the rooster and eager to show off his talent of whistling like a bird, we’ve discovered Jared’s deep-rooted connection to fowl. So we asked him, “what came first: the chicken or the egg?” His answer? “The amoeba.”
Lissa Doty: UX Design Intern
Lissa is currently a student studying UX design at City College of San Francisco. When she isn’t learning about the sewer system in London or exploring Appalachia, you’ll find her playing an intense round of Dutch Blitz. With the spirit of a honey badger and a knack for secret keeping, Lissa Doty is built for success.
Nik Bisht: R&D Engineer Intern
As a student at University of California Berkley, Nik studies electrical engineering and computer science. He enjoys cooking, coding and playing ultimate Frisbee to the beats of future house music. His best adventures come from road tripping with friends. Nik is one cool guy, and you better believe me when I tell you that his hips don’t lie.
Paige Borsos: Public Relations Intern
This fall, Paige will be a senior at Loyola Marymount University. She recently studied abroad in Italy and traveled through 10 European countries. Next on the bucket list: Australia. Paige might be as cute and sweet as a tea cup pig, but challenge her to a karaoke battle and you’ll see her Blink 182 rocker side come out as she belts “All the Small Things.”
Zach Lee: R&D Intern
Zach is a junior at UC Irvine majoring in computer science. When he isn’t studying, you’ll likely find him twinkling the 88s, getting his Serena Williams on at the tennis court, playing video games or just hanging with his pals. He loves to travel and see the world through the eyes of others. Among all of Zach’s talents, his unique ability to cook one-minute rice in 59 seconds wows us the most.
