Recently, TripIt had the pleasure of hosting a group of promising professionals from Upwardly Global at our office.
Upwardly Global is an organization that works toward breaking down barriers for immigrants and refugees hoping to join and contribute their talents to the U.S. workforce. On their website, Upwardly Global shares:
Today there are more than 1.8 million immigrants in the U.S. who are college-educated but are unemployed or significantly underemployed. In their home countries they were engineers, doctors, scientists, accountants, and nonprofit professionals. In the U.S. they become cashiers, nannies, and cab drivers, if employed at all.
Having a diverse group of employees at TripIt, some even Upwardly Global alumni, we’re inspired by their mission and honored to help.
We’re proud to say many of our employees were eager to volunteer and help Upwardly Global participants practice their interview skills. Our employees had a great time helping our new friends grow comfortable with the American style of interviewing and networking.
