The weather is getting colder, the holiday lights are going up, and pumpkin-flavored everything is lining the shelves of local supermarkets. That can only mean one thing: the holiday season is upon us.
We’re thrilled to announce that today we’re kicking off our second annual partnership with Make-A-Wish. Here at TripIt, we believe it’s important to give back and would love your help giving the gift of travel to deserving children this holiday season.
How You Can Give Back
Travelers everywhere can get in the spirit by donating frequent flier miles to Make-A-Wish by participating in TripIt’s second annual miles donation drive. Last year, thanks to our amazing users, we were able to raise more than one million miles to help fund children’s dream trips, and we’d love to surpass that this holiday season. Donated miles never expire, and it’s easy to contribute miles. Just visit tripit.com/gift.
How TripIt Is Giving Back
Did you know more than 75 percent of wishes granted by Make-A-Wish involve travel? This year, through Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, we’re excited to adopt the wish of Mackenna (who goes by Kenna) to go to Australia to meet her bone marrow donor. At age 13, Kenna was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. At a young age, she had to endure an aggressive treatment, which included chemotherapy pills. Although the pills helped fight the colitis, they eventually led to her leukemia diagnosis three years later. At this point, Kenna’s life depended on finding a bone marrow donor. And they did: halfway across the world in Australia. Kenna’s strength truly inspires us, which is why we’re so excited to sponsor this journey, which begins in just 11 days!
Be sure to stay tuned to our blog and social channels to follow Mackenna on her exciting journey. You can also follow the hashtag #AussieWish on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on her travels.
Help Us Spread the Word
Our goal is to reach as many travelers as possible this holiday season to make travel wishes come true for even more deserving children. In addition to miles donations, please share this page with your friends, family, colleagues, and fellow travelers on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more: http://tripit.com/gift.
