Yapta Partners with TripIt
Yapta Integrates Airfare Tracking with the TripIt Itinerary Platform
SEATTLE, January 6, 2010 -- Yapta.com, the airfare tracking service, and TripIt, the trip management company, today announced a partnership to help travelers build airfare price assurance into their travel plans. Now travelers forwarding their flight confirmation emails to firstname.lastname@example.org can choose to have Yapta start tracking their flights for airline refunds or credits with a single click.
Most frequent travelers know that airfares are volatile and that seat prices on the same flight can vary dramatically based on when they were purchased. By tracking airfares with Yapta, travelers can be assured that they are getting the best possible price on their preferred flights. The partnership enables TripIt members to link their account to Yapta in order to be alerted when they are eligible for a refund or credit based on their airline’s “guaranteed airfare” policy.
To date, Yapta has conducted approximately 500 million airfare price checks, revealing that seat prices on 45 percent of flights will drop before the cabin door closes. Approximately 15 percent of these flights are eligible for a refund or credit, net of airline re-booking fees. Since May 2007, Yapta has identified over $250 million in savings for its members, an average of $334 per traveler each year.
"TripIt makes life easier for frequent travelers by helping them organize and share their travel plans no matter where they book," said Gregg Brockway, co-founder and president, TripIt. "By partnering with Yapta, we're extending the value of using TripIt by helping people to save money."
"Many Yapta travelers have requested that we integrate our airfare tracking service with TripIt," said Tom Romary, president and CEO, Yapta. "We view TripIt as a leading innovator in online travel and we believe they do the best job helping travelers manage and share their travel plans in one simple to use site. Together, Yapta and TripIt will now help travelers optimize their travel spending as well."
