My favorite trips always seem to be to places where things are cheap. I love not having to think a lot about money -- it's a great way to relax and do whatever you want. Turkey and Argentina are tops on my list of affordable places that also have a lot to offer.
I'm also the type that likes to explore a new city on foot and really try to see as much as possible. But I rarely go *inside* the museums, government buildings, monuments, etc., that I pass along the way. I'd rather walk past 10 more museums and enjoy them from the outside than spend all that time exploring the inside of 1 museum. That's just how I like to do it!
