Getting from JFK Airport to Manhattan:
Subway Map. Subway rides from JFK to Manhattan cost $2 but could take a while, as they go all the way through Queens and Brooklyn, though trains arrive about every 5 minutes during rush hour.
Taxis from JFK cost $45 are a fixed price.
Make sure to catch the A train to Rockaway and not Ozone. From there , you catch a quick transport via ‘AirTran’ to the airport.
Breakfast at Russ & Daughters:
$10 for Lox Bagel but supposed to be the best. Smoked fish here is some of the best in the city, but the bagels aren’t the best, though above average.
Sandwiches at Katz’s Deli:
deciding between the corned beef and pastrami. leaning towards pastrami, but nothing is set yet
Lower East Side Tenement Museum:
The museum is essential a variety of hour long tours that walk the spectator through tenement apartments, telling the stories of actual people who lived there in the early part of the twentieth century. You buy tickets in advance and often the weekend tours sell out, so you may have to wait an hour.
Soul Food in Harlem. Outdoor seating, and people watching in Harlem. Seafood soup , moroccan fried chicken, and fried chicken plate all look good.
Flight Back to San Francisco via JFK Airport. Take the Subway to JFK.
