On your next trip, wouldn’t it be nice if you could simply look to your wrist to get gate updates and flight information, leaving your hands free to grab a cup of coffee or a magazine? Well, soon you will be able to do just that.
Today, TripIt introduced our first “wearable” app at IFA, as the first travel app developer selected to integrate with the new Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
With TripIt for Samsung Galaxy Gear, you can now glance at your wrist to quickly view departure times or confirmation numbers, call your airline or hotel, get maps or directions, and more – all while leaving your hands free to tote carry-ons, belongings, or even tiny travel companions.
Wearable technologies offer huge possibilities for travelers – you need information frequently and often have your hands full. Fittingly, Samsung’s new smartwatch stole the show at IFA, the world’s leading tradeshow for consumer electronics, where TripIt for Samsung Galaxy Gear was first announced. Check out some photos Rich, our head of mobile, took at the event:
If you’re in Berlin between Sept. 6-11, swing by Samsung’s IFA booth in Hall 20 to check out TripIt in action on the Samsung Galaxy Gear. TripIt for Galaxy Gear is scheduled to be available in fall 2013.
Would you wear a smartwatch? What other wearable items do you hope become “smart” in the near future?
