What a week!
If you’ve been keeping up with our blog, you know that we were thrilled to be recognized as one of the 6 finalists at the PhoCusWright Travel Innovation Summit on Tuesday. As a result, we had the opportunity to demo TripIt to all of the conference attendees along with a great group that included Home&Aborad, iM@, Triporati, Wandrian and Yapta. Check-out a video of Scott in action here. It was a treat to engage with so many interesting, creative new travel companies first-hand.
In another big Tuesday event, TripIt presented as one of the top startups selected by Dow Jones and EuroTech for the Dow Jones VentureWire Technology Showcase along with top innovators from around the world. This is certainly a tough time in the markets, but there is no shortage of exciting new ideas brewing. The event reinforced my belief that a down market can be a great time to start and grow a business.
The press has been smiling on us this week, too. CNN mentioned TripIt on national TV in a piece about holiday travel planning. ReadWriteWeb and the New York Times featured us in an article about the today’s best semantic web applications and we were also selected as one of Travel + Leisure’s top travel sites of 2008.
And, last but not least, we were nominated for a Mashable Open Web Award in the Travel category. Your vote, as always, is greatly appreciated!
It’s very gratifying for the team to get all the positive feedback from so many different sources. I think it’s safe to say we’ll be reflecting on everything we have to be thankful for as we wrap up this week and look toward the Thanksgiving holiday next week.
