When we started TripIt, we were confident that it would be a good solution for frequent “do-it-yourself” travelers to help simplify both their leisure and business trips. The trend among these travelers is to book directly with travel suppliers, which makes managing multiple confirmation emails and other trip information a growing and annoying problem.
What we didn’t fully anticipate was how strong TripIt’s appeal would be among travelers who book within managed corporate travel programs. These are the people who typically work at larger companies that require employees to book with a preferred travel agency or corporate online booking tool to take advantage of negotiated deals with airlines, hotels, etc.
So, based on user feedback and some helpful insights from a few corporate travel managers, we’ve now added support for automatically processing confirmation emails from travel agencies like American Express, BCD and Carlson Wagonlit, corporate booking tools like GetThere, Cliqbook and Travelport, as well as big corporate reservation services like Sabre’s VirtuallyThere.
With Monday’s announcement we just wanted to let the world know that TripIt can help any type of business traveler—whether they book on Orbitz as an independent consultant, or with Expedia Corporate at a small business, or at a Fortune 500 company using American Express and GetThere. Just because your company wants to save some money, your travel shouldn’t be any harder than it has to be!
If you or anyone you know has to travel for business, please send them to our new Business page so they can learn more about how TripIt is working to make life on the road a little bit easier.
